“Fashion is the attempt to realize Art in living forms.” Francis Bacon
There is a symbiotic relationship between art and fashion. In today’s contemporary society these two elements feed each other through collaborations, exhibitions and other relationships.
This collection is inspired by the relationship between the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt and his friend and life partner Emilie Flöge. Klimt was a renowned painter of Modern Viennese Art of the late Nineteenth Century, while Flöge was a Viennese dressmaker. Klimt was inspired by Emilie’s dresses and even used her as his model in his paintings. Flöge relied on Klimt to help her design many of her costumes. This could be considered the first symbiotic relationship between art and fashion in history.
